Food & Consumer Education



Goal of FCE

The FCE syllabus is designed to empower students to be health-conscious and discerning consumers; enabling them to better manage their lives for the present and the future.

Objectives

FCE aims to enable students to:
1.     understand the importance of nutrition for long-term health
2.     apply basic principles of consumer education
3.     nurture and develop critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity
4.     develop positive attitudes and values for the well-being of families and society


Target group: Lower secondary (all streams)
Two compulsory core areas of study:
 – Food Studies
 – Consumer Studies
Three elective modules from which one is chosen in the entire lower secondary years:
 – Nutrition and Food Science
 – Food Entrepreneurship
 – FCE and the Community
