Combined Uniformed Groups Passing Out Parade

23 March 2018

This year, Chung Cheng’s Uniformed Groups (UGs); NCC (Air), NPCC, Scouts and SJB, came together to hold our first Combined Passing Out Parade. A Passing Out Parade or POP is a ceremonial parade of cadets upon completion of their term or graduation from an institute. It can be seen as one of the many important and unique milestones that cadets in UGs experience.

The Parade Commander was Staff Sergeant Wong Jean Yi, 2017’s Cadet of the Year in SJB. The Guard-of-Honour (GOH) Contingent was made up of Secondary Four and Five cadets while the Supporting Contingent comprised of Secondary Two and Three cadets from the four UGs.

This event aims to celebrate the contributions of our graduating cadets and to thank them for their leadership and dedication throughout their involvement in the respective UGs. Our Year Four and Five members have demonstrated responsibility, integrity and grit. Their contributions to their CCAs will always be remembered and valued.

The POP also marked the handover of roles and responsibilities to the next organising committee, as they stepped into the leaders’ role from that day on.

Ms Wong Shing Liu, our Secondary Four and Five Year Head, graced the event. She spoke to graduating cadets and affirmed them of their good work.

Mr Victor Tan, HOD of PE & CCA, was also invited to the event. He gave a relatable and heart-warming speech about lessons learnt as a cadet in a Uniformed Group in his secondary school days.

The POP would definitely be one of the many joyous moments that cadets can look back to when they reminisce about their UG experience.
