• Performance-Based Assessment
• Weighted Assessment
• Summative Year-End Assessment
Signature Programmes
As part of the Department’s aim to deliver an effective and engaging curriculum, every student is offered the unique opportunity to learn beyond the classroom through our signature programmes.
Secondary 1 Dramatised Reading Workshop
Secondary 1 students gain deeper understanding and appreciation of drama and theatre through a closer study of character motivations and emotions in dramatic texts. Students also build personal confidence and communication skills through exposure to performance skills.
Secondary 2 Vlogging Workshop
Secondary 2 students embrace the multi-dimensional nature of literacy through applying linguistic, cognitive and socio-cultural dimensions to use English in a creative and effective manner. Students are guided in their discovery of opinions and worldviews and equipped to present them responsibly.
Secondary 3 Public Presentation and Spoken Interaction Workshop
Secondary 3 students plan, organise and develop their ideas through role-play in selected real-world settings. This workshop complements and reinforces the teaching and learning of oral communication and writing skills through opportunities to practise reflective and persuasive language suited to the respective purposes.
Secondary 4 and 5 Advanced Text Analysis Workshop
Secondary 4 and 5 students learn to detect nuances of language used in context in order to demonstrate their skill in answering techniques. This programme complements and enhances the teaching and learning of text analysis and reading comprehension to give them a leg up in thinking and reasoning skills.
Competitions
In addition, we have also participated yearly in Read for Books, a National Reading Movement organised by the National Library Board. It is also a charity book drive with the intention of raising awareness of reading and share the gift of reading with the less privileged. For every 10 people who read for 15 minutes, one book will be donated to the selected beneficiaries.
In 2021, we submitted an entry for 1155 participants for days between 12th – 23rd July. That makes it 115.5 books donated from our school to the cause.
In 2022, we submitted an entry for 1224 participants for days between 1st Aug – 16th Sep. That makes it 122 books donated from our school to the cause.
