Overview of Blended Learning

Blended Learning (BL) refers to the re-imagination of our students’ educational experience by providing them with a more seamless blending of different modes of learning. It allows our educators to re-think curriculum and assessment design, and innovate pedagogies to enable students to benefit from a wider spectrum of learning experiences.

The key intended outcomes for BL are:

a.     To nurture self-directed and independent learners
b.     To develop passionate and intrinsically motivated learners
c.      To strengthen learners’ collaborative skills and connections to the community
d.     To deepen digital literacies in learners
e.     To develop learners who can apply knowledge of cyberwellness and cyber security to safeguard their online learning

Overview of HBL

One aspect of Blended Learning is the integration of home-based learning (HBL) as a regular feature of the schooling experience. In CCHY, our HBL day takes place on the Day 10 (Fri) of our timetable.  

On HBL days, it comprises a mix of curriculum coverage and student-initiated learning (SIL).  The school adopts mainly asynchronous learning mode to engage the students. However, for students who need additional support in their learning, school will adopt synchronous learning mode.

SIL allows students to explore their interests and passions, learning within and beyond the curriculum. A range of activities are given for the students to choose from. Students who would like to explore beyond the given lists, they can initiate their own SIL activity. All students are given the autonomy to work as an individual or in group.
